Chibi Japan Expo 2009

I’ve went to a  convention today : the Chibi Japan Expo 2009. What is it ? A smaller version of our France’s biggest convention about Japan/Animu/Manga/Cosplay : the Japan Expo.

CJE 2009

First of all, I nearly bought anything because I’m saving for the GREAT GREAT GREAT Christmas… yeah, I think I’ll bankrupt on January (Mizuki Nana-san, why being your fans cost us that much ? ;___;). Talking about nana-san I didn’t find anything related to her, except in the Animu/Japan shop in the chinese district of Paris. But well, it’s not the conv, AND LET’S NOT TALK ABOUT NANA ! O___O

So I did few photos cuz I’m not a good photographer, and sorry for the poor quality :

CJE 2009 - Way too crowded !

CJE 2009 - Way too crowded !

IT WAS WAY TOO MUCH CROWDED.

It was very hard to look after goodies and stuffs, because of how many people there were; that’s one reason I didn’t buy a lot of things.

Of course the main thing you want to do coming to this conv is to buy mangas : they are a bit cheaper than usual and there are lots, lots, lots. Mainly in French ‘course. I’m not really into spending money for manga or anime (I’m still wondering why my nickname contains the word « otaku »), I prefer buying goodies and other useless stuffs. Yeah, I’m that weird.

BUT. BUT. I DID BOUGHT SOMETHING. And not a crappy thing : Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Visual Novel Ep1-2 (translated in French by Saffran Prod). Well, actually I don’t know when I’ll be able to read it, but hey. I HAVE IT !

As you can see I also bought a Hatsune Miku wallet ! ;D

Fake leather 'course, but doesn't look that bad

There isn’t that much more to say about shops : there are lots of animu/mangas to buy, and goodies (bags, figures, key-holder, hats, etc…). That’s all.

What can you do at the Chibi Japan Expo ?

There are some conferences, but they are boring so I’ll pass.

There are some Japanese Martial Arts shows, but they are boring so I’ll pass.

You can PLAY.

CJE 2009 - Street Fighter 4

CJE 2009 - Dance Dance Revolution

CJE 2009 - Wii Super Smash Bros Melee

I didn’t play anything (ok I’m seriously an useless guy) that is video games. But I played Go ! Really hard, but fun ! ;D No, I don’t have photos of me playing Go… orz

But now the real question is :

WHAT CAN YOU EAT AT CHIBI JAPAN EXPO ?

CJE 2009 - Takoyaki Shop

CJE 2009 - Takoyaki !!!! *drools*

CJE 2009 - FINALLY !

CJE 2009 - Takoyaki !!!!

CJE 2009 - YUUUUMMM !

CJE 2009 - YUUUUMMM !!!

CJE 2009 - Okonomiyaki !!!

CJE 2009 - Okonomiyaki !!!!

CJE 2009 - YUUUUMMM !

CJE 2009 - YUUUUMMM !!!

It was delicious, even though it was « fast » cooked. Actually we waited 30 minutes… but mainly because of how many people there were. Of course, there were also sushi, and things like that. But seriously, Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki for the win.

PS : Hello to the twitter friends who were there ! *waves* (btw, it quite surprised me when someone screamed my nickname ! XDDDD)

WOAH even if it’s a smaller convention, it’s a lot bigger than the conventions we have here in Sydney/Australia :’( The Australia conventions are really very very small.. everything is fake AND expensive (wth) and the real things are astronomically expensive :’(
The takoyaki looks sooo goood.. Now you’ve made me drool!

@alice, There were 2 floors, the first one (first pic) is where you can buy mangas, animes, goods… and the second one is where are hold activites.
So yeah it was quite big, actually ! XD

      Droooooool ! HAHA !

      • alice dit :

Wow! Is everything they sell genuine? France has a much bigger anime fanbase than Australia, for sure.. but still doesn’t explain the patheticness of Australian conventions 8( When is the REAL Japan Expo? Do you have to pay to get in?

        • pigeonnotaku dit :

Most of the time it is genuine, because they are pro sellers. But you have to be careful too.

Yup actually France anime fanbase is quite big, but with a lot of narutards/bleachards too =P
The Japan Expo is held on the first week-end of July. I’ve gone there twice (2006 and 2007). I’ll try to go there again next year.
          Of course you have to paid (something around 15 euros) ;___;

          • alice dit :

            Ahh for us, it used to be quite cheap ($10-15 entry fee) but lately it has been up to $30-35 (18 euros about) to get in! ;__;

Alot of Narutards and Bleachards here too, because the dub has been on Cartoon Network for a while, even small children know about Bleach.. to think children watch such violent shows..!

            • pigeonnotaku dit :

Yeah, it’s quite expensive (when knowing that you want to buy lots of goods XD)

haha same here, poor kids ! XD

              • alice dit :

Yeah! I usually bring very little monie with me in case I get the urge to buy something expensive on impulse.. but it’s painful to let so many goods go by XD But for the sake of safe, genuine goods I shall try to only buy anime merchandise while I’m in Japan..! >__<
